Mississippi No-Call List is a compilation of the telephone numbers of Mississippi residential, cellular, and business telephone subscribers who seek to restrict unwanted telephone solicitations and scam calls. Mississippi Public Service Commission maintains and regularly updates the statewide No-Call List as directed by the Mississippi Telephone Solicitation Act. The No-Call program allows telephone subscribers to sign up on the No-Call list, which is established to reduce the number of telemarketing calls cellular and residential subscribers receive. However, the program does not eliminate all telemarketing calls. The legislature provided for specific exemptions in the law, which include:
- An entity that does not attempt to complete sales during the call
- Newspapers
- An entity that does not make a major sales presentation during the call
- An entity with no intent to finalize sales on the call but organizes a physical one-on-one meeting with the consumer to finalize the sale
- Mississippi licensed motor vehicle dealers
- Mississippi licensed real estate agents
- Mississippi licensed Insurance agents
- Registered securities brokers and investment advisors
- Any telemarketer who has an established business relationship (existing or within the last six months) with the individual being called
- Registered charitable organizations or callers representing them that receive no compensation
- Mississippi licensed cemetery, funeral homes, or monument dealer
- Financial institutions with a physical location in Mississippi that are subject to superintendence by an official state or federal agency
Is Mississippi Do Not Call List Different from the National Do Not Call Registry?
Yes, Mississippi No-Call List differs from the National Do Not Call registry. Mississippi Public Service Commission manages the statewide list. In contrast, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) manages and regularly updates the National Do Not Call registry, which has coverage across the United States. The National and the state registries enable telephone users to reduce unwanted solicitation calls; however, registering on these lists does not stop solicitation calls because some entities will still contact telephone users registered on the lists.
The National Do Not Call Registry and Mississippi No-Call List allow numbers registered on them to remain there indefinitely and will not need to be renewed after a certain period. However, a telephone user registered on the list can opt-out at any time. As long as the Mississippi Telephone Solicitation Act (MTSA) is re-enacted, numbers registered here are active. The National Do Not Call Registry is updated every 31 days; similarly, the Mississippi list is updated monthly. Telephone numbers registered on these lists become active after two months, and the subscriber can file a complaint if they still receive unsolicited calls from non-exempt telemarketers/solicitors. For example, if a telephone user registers their number in January, the number becomes effective in March, if they register in February, it becomes effective in April, and so on.

Registration on Mississippi No-Call List does not attract any charges.
What Should I Know About Mississippi Do Not Call List?
Telephone subscribers in Mississippi can register their numbers, including business numbers, on the state No-Call List. There is no limit to the number of phone numbers that a person can add to the list, provided the numbers are valid Mississippi residential and cellular phone numbers. In which case, the name and address match the name and address provided by Directory Assistance for that number. Persons who have reason to change their registered numbers but still wish to be on the No-Call program can register their new telephone numbers in the program. However, if a subscriber wishes to be removed from the list, they must write a letter stating their request. The letter should be mailed to:
Mississippi Public Service Commission

The only information provided to solicitors on the No-Call list is the registered telephone number and corresponding zip code of subscribers to protect Mississippi citizens’ privacy. The subscribers’ names or addresses are concealed from the solicitors.
Subscribers that still receive telemarketing calls from non-exempt solicitors after their registered numbers become active can file complaints with the Mississippi Public Service Commission by filling out and submitting the Online Subscriber Complaint Form. Subscribers can also report by submitting completed Subscriber Complaint Forms by mail to the Mississippi Public Service Commission (MSPSC) address listed above. They can use reverse phone lookup services to identify robocallers not complying with the provisions of the state's No-Call list.
